At Didcot Dental Studio, we use medical-grade gels to whiten our patients’ teeth. These gels contain a unique peroxide based agent that is specifically designed to whiten teeth. You will have bespoke whitening trays made for your teeth by your cosmetic dentist, and these will contain special compartments for your whitening gel to go into. Your cosmetic dentist will then coach you on how to use the teeth whitening gels in the most effective matter to give you the best results.
You can then proceed with your teeth whitening treatment in Didcot and make your smile shine. For most patients it takes just 2-3 weeks to get a beautiful result.
Our cosmetic dentists will spend time going through all the different options we have available at Didcot Dental Studio to brighten your teeth. They will spend time understanding how white you would like your new smile to be and how long you would like the whitening to last, together you will make a decision that best suits you.
1. Consultation – At Didcot Dental Studio, we will start by seeing you for a comprehensive whitening consultation. Here, we will intently listen to your concerns and goals.
We will spend time understanding how bright you would like your teeth to be and to see if you have any special occasions coming up like a wedding, for which you would like the treatment to be completed by.
We will then ensure you are clinically fit and stable to undergo professional teeth whitening. Once this is confirmed, our cosmetic dentists will proceed to take a 3D digital scan of your teeth and bite, so that we can construct your specialised bespoke whitening trays for you to use. The 3D printing process to create your trays usually takes about 10 working days.
2. Coaching and fitting of whitening trays - We will then see you to fit your bespoke whitening trays, ensuring that they have a perfect seal around your top and bottom teeth. We will then spend time coaching you on how to use the special whitening gels in the most effective and safe way.
3. Reviewing those pearly whites - After you have done the teeth whitening process at home, we will welcome you back into the clinic for a comprehensive review. Here we will determine how many shades whiter your teeth have become. We will then take some beautiful after photos of your new bright, white teeth and share them with you.

Yes, when the treatment is performed by dental professionals that have the appropriate skillset and experience.
Most people see a big difference in the colour of their teeth after 2-3 weeks of home whitening, but if your teeth are especially discoloured, you can whiten for as long as you need to get the results you want. Most of our patients will get their teeth whiter than shade B1, which is the whitest natural shade. We can also guarantee a shade B1 result with Enlighten (subject to consultation.)
The majority of people are suitable candidates for teeth whitening, if their oral health has been determined as stable by their dentist. Prior to teeth whitening, any urgent dental work that is necessary, such as fillings or hygienist cleanings, must be finished and stabilised. However, we will be able to determine these aspects at the initial consultation and will be able to prepare accordingly.
No, teeth whitening only works on natural tooth structure, which is called enamel. So, if you have fillings, crowns, or bonding on your teeth, you should know that these won't change colour. Our team at Didcot Dental Studio will always notice this and tell you about it during your consultation, so you can choose what to do with the teeth that have already received treatment.
During the whitening process, it's not unusual for your teeth to feel a little sensitive. This is a sign that the teeth whitening is working, but it is only temporary. As soon as you stop using the gels, the sensitivity will disappear within a few days. If you put too much gel in your tray, your gums may become sensitive, but you can usually avoid this by following our instructions carefully.
Dependent on patient factors including smoking, diet, and tooth wear, teeth whitening results can last up to 3 years. We advise patients that if they would like to maintain the shade they have achieved at the end of their teeth whitening process, to whiten their teeth over night for 3 nights every 6 months using their bespoke whitening trays.
