Invisalign VAT update
On 7 July 2026, the UK Upper Tribunal ruled that clear aligners do not qualify as VAT-exempt dental prostheses. Align Technology says applicable Invisalign aligner and Vivera retainer invoices will include 20% UK VAT from 7 September 2026.
The VAT applies to applicable supplier invoices, not automatically to every patient’s complete treatment fee. However, it increases the cost of providing Invisalign, so patient prices may rise. Didcot Dental Studio is honouring its current campaign offer until 2 September 2026, subject to clinical suitability, availability and campaign terms.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign treatment uses a series of custom-made, clear aligners to move your teeth gradually. Your dentist creates a digital treatment plan, and each aligner is designed to guide specific tooth movements over time.
The aligners are removable, so you can take them out for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing before putting them back in as directed.

I have been incredibly pleased with the Invisalign treatment that Dr Johal has carried out for me over the past two years.
